ABOUT US
Our members come from a wide range of religious backgrounds and upbringing, and our services are designed to accommodate our diversity.
Some services may be more traditional, while other services may be more contemporary. We have members that have come from every background: Catholic, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist - the list goes on and on.
But the truth of the matter is, no matter where you have been, or where you are going, we are all children of God and were designed to worship Him! That is why our church is considered a House of Prayer for ALL people.

We believe in God the Father, Creator of all things and giver of life.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, who was born of a virgin, lived as a man, and willingly died for our salvation.
We believe that He rose from the grave victorious over death and sits at the right hand of God the Father.
We believe His promise to return.
We believe the Holy Spirit to be the Comforter, magnifying Jesus Christ as Lord.
We believe that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to give witness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to live victoriously in life everlasting.

Bylaws Revised July 20, 2008
ARTICLE I: NAME
The official name of the organization shall be Mount Calvary Christian Church, Inc.
ARTICLE II: ORGANIZATION
This church is organized and operated exclusively as a non-profit religious corporation under the laws of the State of Texas.
ARTICLE III: PURPOSE
The specific purpose of the corporation is:
1.To build an open and affirming church where Believers in Jesus Christ might come together with other Believers for regular worship, Bible study and prayers so that they might grow in the image of our Lord, Jesus Christ and further their knowledge of the scriptures.
2.To minister and spread the Gospel to all persons of the Rio Grande Valley (Texas) area, but especially those in physical, emotional and spiritual need.
ARTICLE IV: STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in God Who is infinitely perfect, Maker of Heaven and Earth and Who exists eternally in three persons: God, the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. Suffered for our sins and was crucified upon the Cross as a living sacrifice for us. He arose from the dead and sits at the right hand of God the Father.
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the divine rule of faith and practice.
ARTICLE V: POLICY AND PROCEDURE
Governance of the Church shall be vested in its Board of Directors duly nominated and voted upon by the sitting Board. The Directors have the right to control all aspects of the Church activities subject to these bylaws and the Churchs Articles of Incorporation.
The Board of Directors of this Church shall be composed of not less than three (3) and not more than seven (7) in number. The Board shall be comprised of the following:
1.Pastor: The Pastor shall be the spiritual leader of the church. The Pastor shall be present for the Board meetings, however the Pastor shall be a non-voting member of the Board. The Pastor shall be responsible for providing regular church services and Bible studies.
2.President: The President shall preside over Board of Director meetings and handle other such duties as appropriate to the office and as may be determined by the Board.
3.Vice-President: The Vice-President shall preside over Board of Director meetings in the Presidents absence and shall handle other duties as appropriate to the office and as may be determined by the Board.
4.Secretary: The Secretary shall ensure the maintenance of official correspondence and ensure that accurate records are kept at the Board of Directors meeting and handle other duties as may be determined by the Board of Directors.
5.Treasurer: The Treasurer shall ensure the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ensure compliance with debt covenants, and handle other duties as may be determined by the Board of Directors.
6.Advisors: Advisors to the Board of Directors shall utilize their unique backgrounds to bring perspective to the Board and contribute to sound decision-making.
7.Officers serving on the Board of Directors shall be limited to a two-year term limit. Advisors serving on the Board of Directors shall be limited to a one-year term in that capacity.
ARTICLE VI: MEMBERSHIP
Membership in the Church is open to any individual who desires to commit his/her life to God and who respects the Churchs belief in the existence of God eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit and the beliefs of the Church as contained in these Bylaws.
ARTICLE VII: ORDINANCES
The Church recognizes the baptism of believers, the ordination of ministers and the Holy Communion as ordinance of the church.
ARTICLE VIII: BYLAWS AND AMENDMENTS
The initial Bylaws of this Church shall be adopted by a majority vote of the Board members. Thereafter, amendments may be adopted in the same manner.
ARTICLE IX: REVERSION OF PROPERTY
The property of the Corporation is irrevocably dedicated to religious purpose and no part of the assets of this corporation shall ever inure to the benefit of any director, office and member thereof or to the benefit of any private person. Upon the dissolution of the Corporation, the assets remaining after the payment or provision for payments, of all debts, liabilities and obligation of the Corporation shall be distributed solely for religious purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding section of any future Federal Tax Code or shall be distributed to federal, state or local government for public purpose. Any assets not so disposed of shall be disposed by a Court of Competent Jurisdiction of the county in which the principal office of the Corporation is then located, exclusively for such purposes or to such organizations as said Court shall determine, which are organized and operated exclusively for such purpose. Any distribution shall be made in accordance with all applicable provisions of the law of the State of Texas.
